WW Consulting – 2017 – A Balanced Year

31 Dec 2017

Welcome to our new website! We will be posting updates, news, points of interest and sharing learning and stories from our travels.

We celebrated ten years since our ‘relaunch’ in 2007, and looking back, we have met and worked with some amazing people. From Brazil to Shanghai, Bangkok to Tehran, our team of intrepid consultants have carried out assignments in some fascinating countries and cultures. It has been a wonderful journey.

At the heart of our work is a focus on change – making sense of how people change, providing tools to manage change and reflecting on the type of situations that cause us stress and difficulty as well as those that challenge and energise us. In May this year, I decided to try something new and spent a week in a small village in Greece doing yoga and pilates. It was a wonderful experience and reinforced for me the need for balance – between work and home, relaxation and effort, being with people and being alone. I can certainly recommend solo travel – it offers the possibility of meeting new people, but also the chance to spend some time with yourself.

A message we often convey in our programmes is the importance of being ‘on’ the business as well as ‘in’ the business. By this, we mean being mindful of the bigger picture, and ‘stepping back’ to look at the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ as well as the ‘what’. This is another type of balance that we often get wrong – we spend too much energy simply going faster, rather than trying a different way or looking at things from a different perspective. We have been following the work of Simon Sinek, in his book ‘Start with Why’ – highly recommended! He also recently published a companion book, ‘Finding your Why’ in which he details some helpful exercises and activities for teams and individuals to find their purpose.

In future blogs we will be looking at other tools and offering tips and techniques. Meanwhile please feel free to browse our site, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to discuss anything with us.
